Recovery Isn’t Always Easy 🌸

Recovery has been harder than I expected.

I knew going into surgery that recovery would take time. I knew I would be sore, tired, and probably uncomfortable. But knowing something is going to be difficult and actually living through it are two completely different things.

Right now, I’m struggling—but I’m also doing okay.

I’m taking things one day at a time and trying to remind myself that healing doesn’t happen overnight. Some days feel better than others, and some moments are much harder than I expected them to be.

I’m still dealing with quite a bit of pain, and my right thigh is still numb. The numbness has definitely been one of the more frustrating parts of recovery. It’s such a strange feeling to know that your body doesn’t quite feel the way it normally does. On top of the pain and exhaustion, it can make me feel a little impatient because I just want to feel like myself again.

But I’m learning to give myself permission to slow down.

I don’t have to be productive every day. I don’t have to pretend I’m feeling great when I’m not. I don’t have to rush my recovery just because I wish I could already be back to normal.

My body went through a lot, and now it needs time.

Finding Little Things That Make Me Happy 🎨

One of the things that has been helping me get through these days is art and crafts.

I’ve been doing a LOT of crafting lately. 😂🎨

Since I’m spending more time resting and taking it easy, I’ve been using that time to create. Art has always been something I enjoy, but right now it has become an especially important outlet for me.

There is something really comforting about sitting down and making something with my hands.

When I’m hurting or frustrated, I can focus on a project. When my mind feels busy, I can put that energy into creating something. And when I’m having a particularly difficult day, sometimes just having something small to look forward to makes a difference.

Recovery has taken away some of the things I normally do, but it has also given me an opportunity to slow down and enjoy some of the things I don't always make enough time for.

So, if you see me posting a bunch of art and crafts lately… now you know why. 😂❤️

I Am So Grateful for My Village ❤️

I also want to take a moment to say thank you.

I truly don't think I could get through this recovery without the people around me.

Thank you to everyone who has checked on me.

Thank you to everyone who has brought us food.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with Meadow.

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help, sent a message, called, stopped by, brought something we needed, or simply reminded us that we aren't doing this alone.

And thank you to the people who have supported us in ways I may not even know about.

Sometimes support doesn't look like something huge. Sometimes it's a text asking, “How are you feeling?” Sometimes it's someone making dinner so I don't have to worry about it. Sometimes it's helping with the little things that suddenly feel really big when you're recovering.

Every single bit of it matters.

My family and I have felt so loved and supported through this, and I want you all to know that we notice it. We appreciate it. And it means more to us than I can put into words.

Taking It One Day at a Time 🌸

I wish I could say recovery has been easy.

It hasn't.

There have been painful days. Frustrating days. Emotional days. Days where I feel like I'm making progress and days where it feels like I'm moving backward.

But I'm still here.

I'm still healing.

I'm still finding things that make me smile.

I'm still creating.

And I'm still taking things one day at a time.

I’m trying to remind myself that a hard day doesn't mean I'm not healing. Resting isn't failing. Needing help isn't failing. Taking longer than I hoped doesn't mean something is wrong with me.

Recovery is a process, and I'm learning to be patient with myself through it.

For now, I'm going to keep resting, keep creating, keep listening to my body, and keep taking things one day at a time.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my family through this chapter. ❤️

You have helped make the hard days a little easier, and we are incredibly grateful for every single one of you.

My village is strong. And I am so thankful for it. 🌸❤️
